Data Residency & International Transfers

How workload regions, control-plane data, backups and transfers are described.

Version 1.0Last updated 2 September 2026English

1. Workload region

Where a product offers a selected region, primary workload data is intended to be stored and processed in that region except for disclosed replication, backup, security or support operations.

2. Control-plane data

Billing, account, authentication, support, abuse, monitoring and control-plane metadata may be processed separately from workload data and may use suppliers in other approved locations.

3. Backups

Backup locations may differ from production when cross-site resilience is part of the service. Any contractual residency commitment must be stated on the product page or enterprise agreement.

4. International transfers

Where personal data crosses borders, AlpineLayer applies the Privacy Policy and DPA and uses required safeguards where the destination does not provide the legally required protection.

5. Swiss claims

AlpineLayer should use “Swiss hosted”, “Swiss data residency” or similar claims only where the real infrastructure and processing architecture support them.
